What I want to keep visible here
I keep circling the trait that gets admired, the cost buried underneath it, and the woman disappearing inside the praise.
I keep circling the same territory: the trait that gets admired, the cost buried underneath it, the way a woman can disappear inside the very thing people praise her for.
That will stay at the center here. But not everything needs to arrive as a finished essay. Sometimes it is enough to mark what I am noticing before the thought gets dressed up.
I wanted a place for that. Not polished. Not inflated. Just clear.
