Some thoughts need more than a caption
A caption has speed. It also has walls. Some ideas start dying the second they have to fit inside them.
Short form is good at impact. It is less good at hesitation, buildup, the ugly middle, the sentence that needs one more turn before it tells the truth.
That is the problem with forcing every thought into the same container.
That is the problem with forcing every thought into the same container. The sharp ones survive. The slower ones get cut down too early, and sometimes the cut is where the thinking actually was.
So this section is partly a refusal to flatten everything into one size. Writing can carry the longer argument. Instagram can carry the public edge. This can carry the in-between.
